Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) will be making a trip to Bauchi State to face Wikki Tourists on Sunday evening looking to strengthen their grip on the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table.
Wikki Tourists will go into the weekend engagement sitting in 10th position having suffered two defeats in the top flight to Kwara United and Heartland FC in Matchday Three and Five respectively.
The Sky Blue Stars are yet to taste defeat this season and will push to continue their impressive form in the league against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi.
Remo Stars defeated Plateau United 1-0 through Samuel Anakwe’s brilliant header in the 56th minute while Wikki Tourists suffered another loss on the road to Heartland FC last weekend.
Weekend’s fixture between these two sides will be the fifth time both clubs will meet. Remo Stars defeated Wikki Tourists 2-1 in 2017 at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu. Victor Chidume scored first to put the Sky Blue Stars ahead before Richard Jonathan cancelled it out and Victor Mbaoma restored the lead to give his side the maximum points against the Giant Elephants.
In the reverse fixture, The Giant Elephants in turn defeated the Remo Stars 2-0 in Bauchi after Richard Johnson and Chinedu Onyelonu scored the vital goals to outclass Remo Stars.
In 2019, Issah Gata and Abdullahi Musa scored for Wikki before Victor Chidume helped the Sky Blue Stars pull one back to reduce the deficit in Bauchi.
The reverse clash saw Lanre Runsewe put the Sky Blue Stars ahead, while Issah Gata levelled up for Wikki Tourist before Victor Mbaoma put them to the sword on the dot of 90 minutes from the penalty spot.
Head Coach of Remo Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote will be without the club’s highest goalscorer last season, Morgan Agbeko who is gradually recovering from injury and Ismail Sodiq who picked up a little knock on his left leg.Qudus Akanni is also a doubt in this encounter against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi.
The Oracle as fondly called will continue to put his faith in Samuel Anakwe and Andy Okpe who have banged three goals each in the ongoing season, as well as Dayo Ojo, Tolulope Ojo, Ifegwu Ojukwu, Isah Ali and Nduka Junior who are all available for this crunchy tie.
A win or a draw for the Sky Blue Stars will see them maintain their unbeaten record in the ongoing NPFL.
