Fresh from Sunday’s win over Katsina United in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) travel to one of the southeastern states to face Enyimba Football Club on Wednesday afternoon.
The Sky Blue Stars are currently third in the table, six points behind leaders Rivers United, while Finidi George’s Enyimba occupy eighth, five points behind Remo Stars FC.
The People’s Elephants Lost 1-0 to Heartland FC after Murphy Ndukwe gave the Naze Millionaires the maximum points from close range after the ball found its way into the net from a free kick.
Enyimba FC and Remo Stars FC will be meeting for the fifth time in the NPFL after the previous four meetings have gone in the favour of the People’s Elephants, they have won three games and drawn one at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu.
Chekwebe Chukwudi scored for the People’s Elephants in the 41st minute to pick all three points at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, Abia State in the ever first meeting between both sides in the NPFL.
The return fixture at the Gateway International Stadium Sagamu, Leonard Ugochukwu snatched the maximum points in the 38th minute to give his side the double win against the Sky Blue Stars in 2017.
Two years later, the Sky Blue Stars looked like a pain in the neck for the People’s Elephants for over 80 minutes until former MFM FC midfielder, Onuwa Chukwuka was introduced and gave them the needed win to pick the maximum points seven minutes to the end of the game.
The return leg saw Remo Stars pick at point against Enyimba FC at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu in Ogun State.
Enyimba have garnered five points in their last five games and have not won their last two home games, they managed to pick a point each against Niger Tornadoes and MFM FC, the Sky Blue Stars on the other hand have managed six points from their last five games, they have lost their last two away games.
The host will try to return to winning ways after they have lost two and drawn two in their last four games while the Sky Blue Stars will hope to pick at least a point in Aba.
Remo Stars have a lot to do if they are to get something away from home, they have to stop former players, Victor Mbaoma and Ekene Awazie from getting a goal for their side, Fatai Abdullahi, Kalu Samuel, Cyril Olisemah, Anthony Omaka and Austin Oladapo should be kept at bay.
Remo Stars will hope to welcome Kayode Bankole, Dayo Ojo, Andy Okpe, Ismail Sodiq and others back into team and Agbeko Morgan is nearing his return into the team after featuring and scoring for the Sky Blue Stars academy side, Beyond Limits last week.
A win for Remo Stars will further boost the confidence of players after losing two away games in a row, a draw will be a fair result while a win for Enyimba will be their best result in the last four games played.
