On the back of Remo Stars 2-1 victory over Rangers International on Sunday in the Nigeria Premier Football League, the Sky Blue Stars makes a trip to Port-harcourt to face Rivers United in a matchday one rescheduled fixture.
The fixture was earlier scheduled for the 30th of September 2023 but couldn’t due to the Continental engagement of the Pride of Rivers.
Both sides played for the first time this season in matchday 2 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Remo Stars defeated Rangers International on Sunday after Seun Ogunribide and Sikiru Alimi’s goals cancelled out Kazeem Ogunleye’s 8 minutes strike.
On the other hand, Bashiru Usman’s goal from the spot denied the Pride of Rivers from picking at least a point at the Kwara Township Stadium, the home of Niger Tornadoes.
The last time both sides met was at a neutral venue, Mobolaji Johnson Arena with Remo Stars and Rivers United grinding out a point each with the game finishing 2-2.
Lukmon Adefemi equalized at the death of the game after Nyima Nwangwa had earlier put the Pride of Rivers in front, before Olamilekan Adedayo pulled one back and later put the team ahead with a beautiful strike.
Rivers United and Remo Stars had met 8 times with the Pride of Rivers coming out top in 6 of those encounters and had ended in 1-1 and 2-2 respectively.
Daniel Ogunmodede’s tutored side will try to break this record when they face-off tomorrow with Rivers United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port-harcourt.
