Remo Stars have won their first three points away from home in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season as they stun Bayelsa United 1-2 at the Yenagoa Township Stadium in Bayelsa State.
Adams Olamilekan put the Sky Blue Stars in front in the first four minutes and Sikiru Alimi scored his second goal in the NPFL before Ekeson Okorie pulled one back to reduce the deficit in the closing stages of the game.
Head Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede made five changes to the side that lost 0-2 in Portharcourt on Thursday.
Heavy downpour didn’t give room for a smooth play from both sides but it was the Sky Blue Stars that had the first attempt on goal in the fourth minute after Samuel Anakwe dribbled his marker to set up Adams Olamilekan who calmly slotted in.
In the 15th minute, goalkeeper of Bayelsa United, Oluwaseun Solomon handled the ball outside his box and he was sent off to reduce his side to 10 men.
Nothing serious in the first 45 minutes with the first half ending in favour of the Sky Blue Stars.
The Restoration Boys tried to restore parity in the early minutes of the second half but Charles Tambe was called into serious action to deny the host from getting the equalizer.
The Sky Blue Stars continued to mount pressure on the host and it nearly helped the visitors increase their tally but the woodwork denied Adams Olamilekan after he pounced on a beautiful pass from Samuel Anakwe.
Sikiru Alimi and Aniekeme Okon subbed off Adams Olamilekan and Franck Muawema and few minutes later Sikiru Alimi doubled the lead for the visitors.
The restoration boys reduced the deficit two minutes to the end of the game through Ekeson Okorie but it wasn’t enough to give his side at least a point in the game.
Next for the Sky Blue Stars is a southwest derby between Remo Stars and Sporting Lagos at the Remo Stars Stadium in matchday four of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
