Having been denied a draw in gut-wrenching circumstances last weekend against Bendel Insurance in Benin, Edo State, Remo Stars welcome Gombe United at the Remo Stars Stadium in Sunday’s Nigeria Premier Football League battle.
The Sky Blue Stars were forced to a 1-0 defeat to the Benin Arsenals in matchday seven, while the Savannah Scorpions lost the Savannah derby to the Savannah Tigers at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
That somewhat surprising defeat at the Pantami Stadium made it two defeat for Gombe United in a row, but Remo Stars will hope to return to winning ways after this encounter.
This will be the seventh time both sides will meet, the Sky Blue Stars have won three of the six meetings, drawn one and lost two to the Savannah Scorpions in the Nigeria Premier Football League since 2017, the first time Remo Stars played in the NPFL.
The last time both sides met, the Sky Blue Stars defeated them in Gombe 1-0 and played out a 0-0 draw at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
In a chat with the Head Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede he says he and his wards will not underrate the visitors, he said they lost their last match and we will need a redemption.
“We are not going to underrate the venom of their scorpion simply because they lost their last home game in the last match they played.”
