A tantalising Southwest derby takes place in game week 11 of the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, as Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) and Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) face off at the Remo Stars FC Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Sky Blue Stars picked a point at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Wednesday, whereas the Oluyole Warriors eased to a 4-0 success over Heartland.
While the Remo Stars head into the contest as one of the unbeaten sides and second on the league table, Shooting Stars are seventh on the log with five points behind Remo Stars.
The Weekend encounter will be the third meeting between both sides in the NPFL, with both sides playing a 1-1 draw in previous meetings.
In 2017, the Sky Blue Stars traveled to face Shooting Stars in a sober mood at the then Adamasingba Stadium after Remo Stars lost her goalkeeper trainer, Muhammed Abdullahi Perez but still picked a point, Victor Mbaoma scored to cancel out Sunday Faleye 36th minute goal.
In the reverse fixture, Moses James put the Oluyole Warriors in front of the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu before Ekene Awazie spoilt the party for Shooting Stars to relegate into the lower division in 2017.
In recent games, Remo Stars have dominated the Oluyole Warriors in different friendly games defeating them twice, 3-0 and 4-0 respectively before playing out a 1-1 draw at the Ottasolo Preseason tournament in Lagos.
The visitors will be weary of Andy Okpe who scored a hat trick in the final of the 2021 Ogunjobi Gold Cup Tournament that was played at the Remo Stars in Ikenne-Remo.
A win for the Sky Blue Stars against Shooting Stars returned them to winning ways having played out a draw in their last three games.
